    CAN YOU SOLVE THE MYSTERY OF OUR FAILING FRIDGE?

    Q Would you have any idea where I can get advice on a continuing problem with our motorhome fridge? The fridge is an automatic-energy selection unit fitted in a Fiat-based coachbuilt. The fuse on the leisure battery melts, which stops the fridge working. I have consulted various auto electricians, but nobody seems to have any solutions. I have checked the voltage at the fuse – it seemed low, at 5.5V. The fault occurs intermittently. I have owned the ’van for 13 years and it has happened on about six occasions.

    My leisure batteries do not last long, either; the most recent started giving off fumes last week, at a year old.
