Caravanning is a sociable pastime

While I welcome all the home comforts that we have at our disposal in modern caravans – hot water, shower, television and so on – I can’t help feeling they are slowly changing the social side of caravanning!

Doing the washing-up in the communal dishwashing area, or waiting for the next free cubicle in the shower block, offers the opportunity to meet, and chat to, other caravanners, and is a perfect way to make new friends.

Although many people do still make use of site facilities, I feel that many others are now happy to do these things in their caravan. Nothing wrong with that – it’s merely my own observations – but I wonder if, in years to come, we might lose more of the social side of caravanning?
