Finishing off her shift at Tower Insurance Ltd in Auckland, New Zealand, on a Saturday evening, 56-year-old Blessie Gotingco rang her eldest son John to let him know that she was on her way home.

As Blessie had offered to do some overtime, her close friend and colleague Behula Shah was unable to give her a lift home that night.

‘I’ll be getting the bus,’ Blessie informed her son.

She ran to the location and found abandoned shoes

At roughly 7pm on 24 May 2014, Blessie left work and headed for the 7.20 bus to her house in Birkdale.

But she never made it home.

After their phone call, John left for his evening shift at work.
