New Weird is tricky to define. It’s a young genre so academics are still arguing about what it actually is, but New Weird stories often feature elements of supernatural horror, science fiction, and/or speculative fiction, take place in a modern urban setting, and are invariably strange. Inspired by tales by HP Lovecraft and other pulp horror writers, New Weird characters must often attempt to come to terms with or otherwise survive the unknowable.
