Roy Mangersnes Profile

Roy Mangersnes is a trained behaviouralist and one of Norway’s most influential nature photographers.
His work has been commended in numerous international photo contests, including Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Nature’s Best and European Wildlife Photographer of the Year. In 2013, Roy was named Arctic Photographer of the Year by the Global Arctic Awards.
He is the author of several books including Svalbard Exposed (with Ole J Liodden) and is a regular speaker at photo festivals across Europe and Asia.
Roy is a treasured partner and photographic host at WildPhoto Travel, who specialize in expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic, as well as the Galapagos Islands and Africa.

Most of the photographers that visit Norway are drawn to the country’s famed fjords and mountains, stretching along a rugged coastline from the upper reaches of the North Sea to the freezing waters of the Arctic Circle. It is a country with many natural wonders, but the jewel for many is the island archipelago of Svalbard, where icebergs, glaciers and polar bears abound. Roy Mangersnes spends much of the year here and his images of the wildlife, especially polar bears, have won numerous international awards. But there is more to Roy’s photography than shooting the natural treasures of his native land – wider conservation issues have seen him extend his reach to Africa, Asia and South America.
