listening to heavier styles of music, a lot of it was nu metal. and the song , really stuck out. I can go back to and listen to it now and it still has that same effect. There’s a longevity to it that a lot of songs from that time don’t have. One of my uncles had a huge CD collection of nu metal and old grunge and he also ’s . I remember hearing, for the first time in a song. Then when it kicks in, it was chaos. I was ten or 11 years old when I got into nu metal but I didn’t know what it was at that point. Then put out , and that was the first time I understood what was going on. I remember seeing the video where the masks were on the hat stand on a crappy little TV. With the new Northlane album, , I’ve realised just how much of an influence Corey Taylor has had on me as a vocalist. He has such a special way of expressing his pain.
