LAST MONTH, SLIPKNOT’S sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, reached No.1 in the UK album charts, dethroning Ed Sheeran to claim The Nine’s first chart-topping record on these shores in 18 years. Axeman Jim Root tells Hammer how it really feels to sit atop the mainstream for the first time since Iowa burst its way onto the scene.

“It’s a pretty awesome feeling,” says the guitarist. “You could say chart numbers don’t matter but we’re in a day and age where everybody’s streaming music, so
