IF YOU THOUGHT death metal was terminally dedicated to a mixture of skull-shattering brutality and lyrics steeped in violence and horror, it’s probably time to give that third eye a polish. Formed in Denver, Colorado, in 2011, Blood Incantation may have their roots in traditional extremity, but their approach to the genre is almost entirely without precedent. In fact, it might just blow your mind, as these intuitive weirdos are enthusiastically exploring death metal’s untapped psychedelic potential.
