With global food production practices coming under increasing scrutiny, many (including myself) have chosen to go plant-based in an effort to reduce our environmental impact and improve animal welfare. According to the Vegan Society, the number of plant-based eaters in the UK quadrupled between 2014 and 2018. More than just a passing fad, research is showing that the movement may have legs. According to the Future of Food Report conducted by Sainsbury’s, vegans and vegetarians are set to make up a quarter of the British population by 2025.

Despite the remarkable growth of the movement over the last decade, there have undoubtedly been a number of setbacks for the vegan community. Many poster children of the plant-based revolution have since performed public U-turns, returning to their omnivorous roots.
