ON A DAZZLING NIGHT OF GLORY FOR BRITISH TALENT IN L.A. THE GOLDEN GLOBES AWARDS SEASON KICKS OFF IN SENSATIONAL STYLE AS HOME-GROWN STARS GRAB THE SPOTLIGHT
Gongs and gorgeous gowns were the order of the day
Gongs and gorgeous gowns were the order of the day as awards season kicked off last week with the 77th Golden Globes in Los Angeles. Hollywood stars including Jennifer Lopez, Scarlett Johansson and Nicole Kidman dazzled on a red carpet awash with colour and couture, but it was the Brits who grabbed the spotlight – and the headlines – as home-grown stars including Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Olivia Colman bagged the night’s big prizes.
Olivia again reigned supreme as she won her third Golden Globe in four years, scooping Best Actress in a TV Drama for. “I had money on this not happening,” she said on stage at LA’s Beverly Hilton in a red custom-made Emilia Wickstead gown. She also admitted she had got a little “boozy” beforehand because she was so sure she wouldn’t win after triumphing last year in – for which her role as Queen Anne also won her an Oscar. “For the last year I feel I’ve been living someone else’s life and now I feel I’ve won someone else’s award.”
