MICHAEL BUMA is the author of Refereeing Identity: The Cultural Work of Canadian Hockey Novels. His writing about sports and culture has appeared in Canadian Literature, The Allrounder, Matrix, Studies in Canadian Literature and several edited essay collections. After teaching literature, culture and sport for a number of years at Western University in London, Ontario, he is now working in product development, where he typically focuses on software, rather than backpack Zambonis.
