A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING

THE wide geographical area to the east of Melbourne encompasses a breathtaking range of environments. The Dandenong Ranges are a set of low mountains about 40km east of Melbourne’s CBD; further east again is the Yarra Valley and Yarra Ranges. Phillip and French Islands lie in a large natural bay between the far western edge of Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula. The region features stunning mountain peaks, pristine beaches, historic villages, rolling vineyards, gourmet produce, abundant wildlife, rustic huts, rail trails, waterfalls, Aboriginal culture and spectacular national parks. Highlights include the Cathedral Ranges, Cape Woolamai, Churchill Island, Tarra-Bulga NP, Wilsons Prom, Ninety Mile Beach and Baw Baw NP. Here are ten of my favourite walks.
