NEW YEAR, NEW WALKS
THERE have been a lot of crazy predictions about the year 2020. While we don’t yet live on Mars, still don’t have robotic slaves (does Google Home count?); we also haven’t grasped the use of teleportation – thankfully so, because then we wouldn’t be able to relish in the journey walking has to offer. 2020 is shaping up to be a big year of walking with these new tracks-to-try in Australia and around the world – nothing intergalactic in the pipeline just yet.
AUSTRALIA
Halls Gap circuit, Grampians NP, Victoria – 36km
Victoria’s answer to NZ’s Milford Track, the Grampians Peak Trail is sure to be impressive and now the first section of this 160km world-class walk is ready to take on challengers. The three-day walk takes bushwalkers through some of the most popular features of the Grampians. Starting and ending at Hall Gap, ascend the rocky gullies and woodlands of the Grand Canyon, stop at the famous Pinnacle lookout, walk through Messmate forest, and enjoy the view from Mt Rosea. Construction will continue on the remaining sections
