BREAST CARE
Information on common breast conditions, including breast cancer, and the importance of early detection
Your breasts are continually changing, get to know what is normal for you
Breasts come in all shapes and sizes and will go through many changes from adolescence to menopause. Getting to know the feel and look of your breasts is an important part of self-care.
CHANGING TIMES
As you go through different life stages and experiences, your breasts are continually changing. Most change occurs when your hormones are especially active – during puberty, pregnancy, breastfeeding and menopause. Putting on or losing weight and hormonal medications can also affect the size, shape and feel of your breasts. Everyone is different. To have one breast bigger than the other, inverted nipples, nipple hair, stretch marks or skin tone variation are all normal.
THE CARE THEY DESERVE
Getting to know what is normal for you will help you recognise new or unusual breast changes. If you do notice anything, make an appointment to see your doctor. No matter what the problem is, if anything at all, early diagnosis is the key to successful treatment.
