PUTTING THE CEDAR BACK IN THE BERG

At the crack of an autumn dawn, our group from Bushmans Kloof lodge came together for the pilgrimage to the rocky outcrops above the remote hamlet of Heuningvlei, deep in the Cederberg mountains. On the rugged road there, open to traffic just once a year for this event, we passed city kids on mountain bikes and jovial impromptu 4x4 carpools. We were going to plant baby cedar trees.
