22sts by 28 rows over stocking st to 10cm over on 4mm knitting needles

BACK

Using 3.25mm needles and thumb method, cast on 49 (53, 61, 65, 69, 77) sts.

Row 1: Knit

This will now be referred to as g-st (garter stitch). Work 1 row more in g-st.

Change to 4mm needles and proceed as follows:

Row 1: P0 (2, 2, 0, 2, 2), *k1, p3, rep from * to last 1 (3, 3, 1, 3, 3) sts, k1, p0 (2, 2, 0, 2, 2).

Row 2: Purl.

Row 3: P2 (0, 0, 2, 0, 0), *k1, p3, rep from * to last 3 (1, 1, 3, 1, 1) sts, k1, p2 (0, 0, 2, 0, 0).

Row 4: Purl.

Row 1 to 4 sets first patt. Keeping patt as set cont until back measures 7 (8, 8, 10, 11, 12) cm ending with a WS row. Proceed as follows:

Row 1: Knit.

Row 2: P2 (0, 0, 2, 0, 0), * k1, p3, rep from * to last 3 (1, 1, 3, 1, 1) sts, k1, p2 (0, 0, 2, 0, 0).

Row 3: Knit.

Row 4: P0 (2, 2, 0, 2, 2), * k1, p3, rep from * to last 1 (3, 3, 1, 3, 3) sts, k1, p0 (2, 2, 0, 2, 2).

Row 1 to 4 set second patt. Keeping patt as set cont until back measures 12 (15, 16, 19, 21, 23) cm.
