THE VISIBLE INTERIOR CLEAR PLASTIC VOLKSWAGEN MODELS
Since the first introduction of the Volkswagen in 1938 (called the KdF Wagen back then), many German toy companies have produced the “Peoples’ Car” in scale form. The well-known German toy company by the name of MÄRKLIN (noted for their scale trains) built two KdF toy cars: one was 1/70th scale and the other was 1/40th. Both were made of a zinc metal alloy and made in the die-cast method, with the Split Window KdF Sedan as the basis for the models. Two other German firms, DISTLER and JNF produced a larger scale, painted, tinplate VW toy. JNF even included a semi-detailed lithographed interior. The toy firms of G. FISCHER, TIPPCO, F. HÖRNDLEIN and HUKI produced their versions of the KdF Wagen as well. Their toys were tinplate and featured a nice lithograph design that
