How did you get into Air-cooled VWs?

It will be a fun read but not really on how to fix anything, really. People ask me all the time how I got involved in these air-cooled VWs. My answer is: my dad. He bought a brand new one in 1962, the year I was born. He paid a whopping $1200 for it out the door. He bought it to go to college in Philadelphia, PA. Yeah, we lived in Pacific Grove, CA. That’s a long ass way even today.
