What role can artists play in the life of a tiny island? Gapado, an island at South Korea’s southernmost point, is small by any measure. With its area of approximately one square kilometre, and extremely flat topography — rising to only 20 metres above sea level at its highest — any point on the island lies within a ten-minute walk from its centre. Gapado’s population stands at only about 150, down, Jeju province’s female divers.
