Cyclo-cross World Championships

Britain’s Steve Douce splashes his way to 13th in his first professional World Championship cyclo-cross race in Lembeek, Belgium.

Conditions were dire all weekend and reported there was more running than riding on the course for most. Douce was swiftly distanced by the world’s best and would remain around 13th place for the whole race, eventually finishing 6.34 down. However, this was an improvement over his appearance in the amateurs, where he’d been 20th two years before.
