    In 2013 Emily Nelson was part of the junior women’s team pursuit outfit that broke the senior world record (at the new 4km distance). In the six-and-a-half years since then, Nelson has reaffirmed her talent many times over, winning an array of titles and medals including Madison gold at the 2018 Worlds and scratch race gold at last year’s European Champs. It may come as a surprise, then, to learn that the 23-year-old has been dropped from British Cycling’s Olympic programme and had her funding cut off — so she is switching back to the road in the hope of attracting sponsors
