All you need to know Organised Cruising
SUNSAIL FLOTILLAS ON DISCOUNT WORLDWIDE
Sunsail is linked to the history of the sailing flotilla, having honed its approach over the years to deliver the most fun afloat. A flotilla holiday can provide independence and peace of mind.
After each daily morning briefing, you will slip your mooring and be left to explore the sailing area as you please; reconvening at the pre-arranged evening stop. Mostly staying at village quays and small harbours, every night you can choose to explore the town on your own or meet up with the rest of the flotilla for dinner and drinks.
The lead crew also organise social events like barbecues on the beach, punch parties and an end of week regatta, so you can get to know your flotilla sailing partners.
Flotilla holidays have grown from its introduction in Greece in the 1970’s to several flotilla itineraries taking in the world’s best sailing grounds. Sunsail now offers flotilla sailing in Croatia, Greece, the British Virgin Islands and the Whitsunday’s.
Flotilla sailing combines the freedom to sail independently with guidance from an expert lead crew who keep you informed of the best places to snorkel, eat and shop; as well as helping out with mooring in sometimes tight harbours.
All Sunsail lead flotilla skippers have local knowledge; while its engineers know each yacht like the back of their hand; they are an on-call mechanic: always ready to help make a flotilla cruise run smoothly.
Sunsail’s flotilla hosts: advisors, guides and event planners, are there to make sure you get the most out of your time on the water.
One of the most common misconceptions about flotillas is that you are restricted in where to sail and when. In reality, things could not be further from the truth. Sunsail flotillas are deliberately flexible: support when you need it, freedom when you do not.
So if the flotilla itinerary lists the next stop as X, but you want to go to Y instead, you can. All you need to do is let the lead crew know that you will be going rogue for the night.
Of course, their support is still just a VHF
