A CATAMARAN FOR WHEN YOU HAVE THE NEED

“Easy to handle, easy maintain, light and offering unique catamaran sailing pleasure, a big brother to the TS42”. This is how Marsaudon Composites boasts about its TS5 catamaran design.

Marsaudon Composites has always built fast sailing catamarans and trimarans, both for cruising and racing as well as record setting. The French company is responsible for designing and building some for the world’s fastest and biggest multihulls, which include the trimaran IDEC2 that Francis Joyon sailed to smash the round-the-world sailing record in 2008.

Marsaudon Composites is also responsible for building the 19 metre Paradox, a high performance cruising trimaran. They also build world famous catamarans: the TS42 and the TS5 being prime examples.

It will surprise many to realise that Marsaudon Composites have only been building multihulls for a few years, this year celebrating their 20th anniversary. Despite this, these intriguing multihull designs have already become one of Europe’s favoured builders, which potential catamaran owners look for when buying a boat: a fast sailing boat with a comfortable and beautiful interior.

Marsaudon Composites appear to have come up with a great compromise with both the TS42 and the TS5. The later designed TS5, however, is a remodelled version of its predecessor, the TS50. The TS5 became a hit before the first one was even built with half a dozen boats ordered and pre-sold. This really goes to show the reputation and trust built between the builder and designer of the TS catamaran range in general and those who are interested in their multihull products.

The aim is to build all of their multihulls to be as fast as possible, within the realms of being easily sailed. Many of these design features come directly from the world’s best racing skippers. Some of these features involve multiple carbonfibre options including: a rotating mast with Spectra standing rigging, daggerboards, forward crossbeam and even a carbonfibre main bulkhead. The hull and deck are made of high-quality vinylester with foam
