~ These are uncertain, sketchy times in shortwave. Lately there have been rumors centering around a possible closure of Radio Romania International. First the station’s QSLing procedures took a hit, then the Tiganesti and Galbeni sites with their 300-kilowatt shouters got shaky, so don’t be shocked if you hear or see very nasty things being unveiled just ahead.
~ All India Radio has decommissioned its 250-kilowattt outlet at Kuresong and at Mumbai, which used 7340 / 11935 kHz. Especially troubling for SWLs is news that Port Blair (4760 / 7230 kHz) in the Andaman Islands has closed, removing yet another country target. Shillong (4970 / 7315 kHz) is also going down. Apparently, AIR is starting to make good on its self-destruction plans.
~ Radio Inconfidencia, Belo Horizonte, has reactivated 15190 kHz after several months of silence. The 19-meter band outlet rejoins 6010 kHz to complete that Brazilian duo. Further, Radio Nacional Brasilia has reconstituted its service on 6180 kHz.
