Just as in the Case of the Five Orange Pips,1 this story began on a dark and stormy night, but over one hundred years later, in 1997.
Many of the United Kingdom’s PRC319 military radios had just been released by the Ministry of Defense (MoD) as surplus. The Special Air Service (SAS), the British Army’s most distinguished and renowned special forces unit, had used them in the Middle East with great success in the late 1980s.
