Last month, I wrote about the Nouveau 75 kit from the 4-States QRP Group and mentioned the modification coming to improve the quality of the received audio. That improvement came in the form of a small daughterboard that takes the place of the 3-leaded IC detector and one SMT (surface-mount) resistor. I assembled the board and did the two main board SMT part removals and installed the new detector / AGC board. It made a big difference, and now that radio not only sounds great listening to hams on 75-meter AM, but receiving shortwave broadcasts as well.
