UNUSUALLY, there were several interesting things to write about in the jewellery section of the December 12 sale at Cheffins of Cambridge, without the need to pad things out with facets and carats.
One, to which I was alerted by Jean Wilson, whose scholarship runs from church and funerary monuments to the imagery and playhouses of Elizabeth I, was a little flaming heart in rubies, garnets and green hardstones bound by a stylised Crown of Thorns .
