RAISE THE RAFTERS

With its mellow weatherboarded façade, red tiled roof and grey-green woodwork, Wendy and Steven Hunter’s cosy oak-framed home couldn’t be a more welcoming spot to spend the festive season, especially as they built the property themselves with the help of their family.

Taking on a self-build is a brave move, but it was always the preferred option for the couple as Steven’s father worked in the building trade for more than 40 years.
