Opening my eyes, I felt numb on the right side of my body. ‘Something’s wrong with my hand,’ I said to my husband, Nick, 57.

‘Did you sleep on it funny?’ he asked, but I knew it wasn’t that.

‘Let’s see the GP,’ he said.

I was soon referred to the hospital and for the next three weeks, I underwent tests and scans, but no
