WARRANTY RETHINK?

As a recent subscriber to your magazine, I must say how much value and entertainment I have found in it, and have taken out a longterm subscription.

One subject that came up in a previous edition was in relation to warranties on new vans and not-so-new vans. In April 2018 we purchased a new Concept (Newlands Tourister 610 Cafe) van, which we have been very happy with. However, due to personal circumstances we have only been able to use it sparingly; it has not been used since the end of January 2019, hence road kilometres have been very low (2500km to 3000km).

The next time we use the van, if something were to happen — which would usually be covered by warranty — we would not be covered, as the warranty ‘period’ will have lapsed. Surely in this day and age, warranties should be more concerned with odometer readings rather than time lapsed since
