BACK TO BASICS

Following on from the letter by Bruce Wills, 'Protect Free Camping' in CW 590, my wife and I also free camp and have an ‘off-the-grid’ van. But like most people, we wish or have the need to pull into a caravan park for a night or three.

On the road chasing white lines provides a lot of time for discussion. Many times we have commented that we think that there is a place in the market for a franchise or chain of caravan parks that advertise quality clean parks without the games room, jumping castles, outdoor night cinemas, swimming pools, playgrounds and attached ensuites, all things that are built into the price.

We like parks which preferably are well grassed (water allowing) have drive-through sites, up-to-date and clean showers and toilet blocks, at a competitive and reasonable rate. A lot of people have their conveniences
