RISE OF THE MACHINES
With a name like Phoenix, you just know that there’s going to be a reference somewhere in this review to 'rising from the ashes'. Well, not wanting to disappoint, I can assure you there will be.
The Phoenix is no stranger to the pages of Caravan World, having taken out the top gong in Best Aussie Vans in 2018. But rather than resting on their laurels, the team from Sunland have been hard at work, listening to customer feedback and also drawing from their own real-world experiences to come up with a new interior fit-out on this latest iteration of the Phoenix.

Meeting up with owner Roy Wyss at the company’s headquarters in Caboolture, Queensland, we were to spend the day checking out a couple of tracks and a campground nestled amongst the pine plantations of the Sunshine Coast.
But first, a factory tour was in order while the finishing touches were applied to the Phoenix 206 (so named because it measures 20ft 6in / 6.24m) prior to our departure. Some might say I'm a little weird, but I love a factory tour. Being able to see the tradespeople in their natural habitat and the manufacturing processes that go into the final product, allow an insight that not many are afforded.
