Killed off in 2016, Land Rover promised its iconic off-roader would make a return but, after a number of concepts received mixed reactions, there were those who thought it would remain a part of automotive history.

Loved by so many, the Defender was overtaken by technology, legislation and rivals that could conquer hillsides and plough through mud with the driver barely lifting a finger. It had become a dinosaur, chased off by machines capable of transporting humans in luxury across terrain that was once its stomping ground.
