“My design incorporates the scale and materials of the original Federation home and reinterprets them in a simplified form. Sandstone plinths ground the island bench and the same brush-box flooring that “The granite slabs on the tops and splashback. Federation homes are traditionally about natural materials. Adding the organic form of a natural stone with colouring that works beautifully with the concrete floor. Also, the custom cabinet handles in powder-coated gold hint at the traditional brass hardware in the rest of the home while adding a sense of luxury and streamlining the simple cabinetry. The simple form of the tapware is equally sculptural as it is utilitarian and the refined form of the CEA-designed tap sits proudly onstage on the island bench.”
