According to Richard Lukacz, Lady Elliot Island is a sanctuary for birds who coming en masse to breed. “Those particular birds like to lay eggs in the bushes, on rocks close to the sea. On our morning walks around the Island, they would fly from the bushes to distract us from getting closer. At the time I had only a mobile phone with me. I took a few photos. The first impression when you look at the picture on PC it looks like a messy bunch of birds flying around. It is very misleading. It is coordinated action to protect their offspring.”

The overall effect of this image is lovely, with lots of energy and a pretty pattern of wing shapes and beaks that are all over the frame. It is quite graphic and interesting, but the image looks as if it needs some
