For the love of Lilies

IF you are entranced by lilies then you are in good company. Our love affair with these elegant beauties stems back hundreds of years and started with the satiny white petals and intoxicating fragrance of the Madonna lily (), which was brought to England by the Romans. Fast forward to Victorian times and the ‘golden-rayed lily of Japan’ () was all the rage, while the plant hunter Ernest Wilson caused a(the regal lily). It went on to feature in countless gardens and is still popular now.
