Sense of PROPORTION

There is something undeniably pleasing to the eye about classic Georgian proportions. As well as the simple symmetry and balance, it is the harmonious fluidity and understated detail that combine to create a sense – in the words of Robert Browning – of ‘God in his heaven and all’s right with the world’. It was just such a sense that first struck Vanessa Macdonald’s husband James when he first spotted the house in an estate agent’s window.
