Musicians can tell you all about the pain of producing a hit album in the wake of writing a masterpiece. It’s often quite difficult. The Happy Mondays, for example, having written their seminal album Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches retreated into a drug-induced fug and wrote the distinctly average Yes Please!

Which brings me to the Hanse 508. Now, I’m not saying that the 505 was the German manufacturer’s Pills 'n' Thrills… It wasn’t. In 30 years time, no one will be asking for a remastered anniversary version of the 505 or speculating whether the design team of Judel/Vrolijk lost their touch due to smoking too much crack.
