Perfect pit-stop

Cape Verde is approximately four days’ sail to the south of the Canaries. Make your land fall at Palmeira on Sal, the westernmost island in Cape Verde. Check in at the airport, which has good connections to both Europe and the US – this makes Sal a good crew change island. From here, I’d recommend sailing south to Maio to unwind. This is an island where so little happens they say when a chicken runs across the road followed by some chicks, the discussion for the rest of the day is whether the chicken was followed by five or six chicks!
