UVI Falcon drum sounds
00.23 The meat of the drums in Los comes from two software instruments that we don’t think have ever appeared in Producer Masterclass before. The first is UVI’s amazing hybrid synth/sampler Falcon. “We’ve been using it for quite a few years now,” says Ed. “It used to be Mark of the Unicorn Mach 5, and I think it was always made by UVI, but then UVI claimed it back.
“There was some corporate thing, so now it’s reverted back to UVI. It basically does more or less everything, so it is quite tricky to get your head around at first. It does regular subtractive synthesis… it doesn’t do additive synthesis. It does sampling and granular sampling, and it also does a type of physical modelling. And you can just modulate everything with everything, which is one of the attractions of it – you can go very deep into it.
