New balancing and bass enhancement features, and a whole lot more

This year’s update to iZotope’s self-contained mastering plugin introduces a couple of new modules to the already well-stocked roster, and further beefs up many of the software’s existing capabilities.

The two headlines are the Low End Focus and Master Rebalance modules. An ‘industry-first bass-shaping tool”, Low End Focus enables tightening up of low-frequency presence, with a Punch setting for transient-heavy sources (kick drums) and a Smooth mode for basses, synths, etc. Master Rebalance, meanwhile, performs the miraculous feat of boosting or lowering the vocals, bass or drums in a full mix, using some kind of equalisation voodoo, via a single slider.
