WELCOME to Winestate magazine’s “cream of the crop” judging for 2018. Here we invite wineries to resubmit those wines awarded four and a half and five stars from numerous judgings throughout the year held both in Australia and New Zealand. These range from regional judgings to so-called style tastings such as chardonnay, or sweet whites, or new release judgings held for each issue.
In what is effectively a trophy judging, our panel of three expert judges were asked to blind taste each category in turn, to select the Top 5 wines without fear or favour, then identify the winner in each group and finally an overall Wine of the Year for Australia and New Zealand. This is entirely blind until all results and final Wine of
