FIZZ DOMINATES AS PRODUCTION BUBBLES ALONG

BREXIT or no Brexit (at the time of writing), the UK wine - production - industry is in full, gung-ho stance.

The UK wine industry has without doubt been helped by what were record high harvest volumes in 2018. Mind you, record-high in the UK is kind of Tasmania-esque in proportion. Data from wine industry body Wines of Great Britain (WineGB) states that 15.6 million bottles were produced. Importantly, the quality of the 2018 is also high. Challengingly, in such a cool, marginal climate, both volumes and quality are highly variable. Indeed, the sum of the ’15, ’16 and ’17 vintages were still smaller than the size of the 2018 vintage alone.
