Mecum sent 1,301 vehicles across the block at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg from July 31 through August 3, and stated that “more than 70-percent hammered sold.”

Not surprisingly, there was a broad selection of cars and some trucks and motorcycles from which to choose, many spanning the decades of the 1950s to 1980s. Options included drivers, low-mileage originals, show-quality restorations, concours-restored examples, restomods, modifieds, race cars, and more.

Of the myriad collections submitted, those of Boca Raton and Todd Werner were listed as main attractions. There were more than 50 consignments in the Boca collection that provided a wide range of vehicle brands, ages, and values.

Werner’s collection featured a substantial contingent of race cars amongst its 40-plus consignments, including retired drag cars of Ronnie Sox and Buddy Martin, Dick Landy, Arnie Beswick, and Dyno Don Nicholson, to name a few. Additionally, there were two Richard Petty NASCAR race cars.

The Petty 1970 NASCAR Superbird bid up to $3.5 million, but didn’t sell. Regardless, other Werner collection race cars did hold multiple positions in the top 10 sales, as well as first, second, and fifth in the top five.

The number one spot was earned by the Sox & Martin 1970 Hemi ’Cuda at $429,000. Second was the Richard Petty 1971 Road Runner NASCAR racer at $412,500. A 2005 Ford GT was third at $324,500, a 1967 Shelby G.T. 500 was fourth at $275,000, and a 1969 Yenko Camaro rounded out the top five at $258,500.

There was an additional $1.5 million in Road Art sales and a 30-percent increase in overall revenue compared to 2018, according to Mecum.
