Poppy Appeal

Nothing compares to the sight of a mass of poppies bursting into bloom in early summer; their crepe paperlike petals glowing in the sunlight are stunning. From the classic single red-orange ‘Legion of Honor’ corn poppy at left to lush doubles, such as ‘Flemish Antique’ breadseed poppy on the next page, there’s an amazing range of colors and shapes to choose from. Turn the page to meet some annual or short-lived perennial members of the poppy family that will reseed happily in your borders year after year.
