California garden designer Rebecca Sweet uses low-water plants to create drought-tolerant, low-maintenance gardens that are still lush and beautiful. Over 17 years in this garden she transformed the yard by adding garden beds and outdoor living areas so they’d have plenty of room to enjoy time with family and friends.
Though replacing the front lawn wasn’t first on the project list, the oak trees there developed oak root rot (), a soil fungus that attacks trees, shrubs and some herbaceous plants.
