Gardening in a cold climate is not easy, but it certainly can be done—and you can have fun while you’re at it. When I started gardening in USDA cold-hardiness zone 4 more than 30 years ago, there were no internet search engines to consult. It was hard to know what books were out there if they weren’t in the local library or bookstore—that information wasn’t easily available until later.
