What was the first gig you played and how did it go?

“That’s a tough one. If I remember correctly then it was playing for a band at the local community centre, across the street from where I grew up in a small town on the Jersey Shore. I was playing baritone saxophone and my brother was conducting this little band and I can’t even imagine how horrible it sounded. That was the first gig I remember, but not playing guitar.

“I certainly remember the first electric guitar I got and working with my own little band called Highway. Our best gigs were opening for Bruce Springsteen, because he was a local and he used to play our high school dances, which was pretty wild.”
