EVEN though most roads lead to the Cheltenham Festival at this time of year, the occasional one still leads to Aintree.

Apart from the Glenfarclas Cross-Country Chase at the Festival, which has been won by the subsequent Grand National winner, Tiger Roll, for the past two years, the next best race for National winners is probably Warwick’s McCoy Contractors Civil Engineering Classic Handicap Chase, which was run on Saturday, 11 January.

It was won by One For Arthur en route to securing his place in Scottish racing history at Aintree
