BY SUPPORTING WORTHY CAUSES

For some knifemakers, the work they do is more than pushing the craft, artistry and metallurgy to the limits. Some have used the following they’ve created or the popular designs they’ve developed to do good in the world by fundraising for charities near and dear to their hearts.

Stephanie Young, Buck Knives marketing and communications manager, said knife companies are uniquely suited to fundraise for several causes, one of them being conservation efforts. Meanwhile, knives appeal to a wide number of people—from avid cooks to veterans. “Knives are popular items, especially custom knives that can bring a good dollar value to auctions, raffl es and more,” she noted.

Buck supports a range of initiatives, from charities operating on a national scale to local events. Like many big-name knife companies, it has a page on its website addressing how people can request a donation from Buck. According to Young, requests pour in weekly. “We look at the cause,
